Getting back to life

The school responded earlier this year on April 13 with the assistance of child Reach intention (CRI) and the Yangrama Ex student society (YESS). CRI is a UK-based charity which has been supporting Child Health program and school Health program at Dhuikikhel Hospital. previously, CRI also supported a school's Renovation in Minikharka and they have also been supporting Antardrish a counseling centre for axially abused children in Nepal.

CRI is funding yangarima school to renovate the infrastructures and sponsors, half of teacher's salary and educational materials required for the school. This renovation work carried out by CRI helped reopen the school, enabling over 70 children to enrol and restart their lessons. Today little sang ya Dolma along with 78 student aged from three to 14 attend the school from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm of these 75, 19% of the student were sent to yangrima school by there parents who are now settled in the capital.

student some all dressed up and others paying less attention to their appeals walk all the way to their school from as for as Salim village, which is two hours away from shermathange. The school's uniform however is yet to be decided. The school presently operates nursery to class four and follows the Currie clams set by the District Education Board. It even runs Tibtan script classes to grade eight in the poplin for the next year. "The main aim of the reopening of yangorima school it to provide" equality education" says. Tshering lama, the man behind the scene, who introduced CRI to Nepal .

Tshering is a regional winner and was a national Finalist in the British councils annual SHINE award for international students. In recognition of his outstanding academic and personal achievement, Northumbria university has dedicated a scholorship in Tshering's name.

many might be unaware that tshering also happens to be one of the first graduates of Yangrima school. Ask any of the present student in Yangrima "what do you want want to be in your life ?" the answer. " Be like Tshering dai."

But just rekindling the hope for quality education was not enough. getting good Tea-Cher's was also and of the main priorities for yanggrima. And realizing the importance of trained teachers the school put and extra effort to training the eight teachers the school has. And the result has been productive.

"I' have learnt about lesson plan night which I had no idea about prior to the training says kumari Hyloma, one school teacher. All of the eight teachers at Yangrima have their salaries at per with the government fixed rate of Rs. 5,000 per month With insure ance facilities too.

Dorje , who recall the Bomb incident vividly is pursuing his undergraduate studies now. At the same time he has also returned to his Alma mater as a teachers. "A year ago when i was here, the school area was covered with jungle." Tshering adds."It took the villages four days to clear the path up the school." "The school roofs striated disappearing after the news of it's reopening surfaced . With the help of the village, We tracked down the Chet made him carry all the roofs back to the school and fined him" added the director of the school Tashi lama.

Now the classroom in the five blocks are under construction. And Tashi recently came up with the sketches of the restrooms for girls and boys.

A small dark area in the between the two building on the half of the main school compound remains untouched. This is a area where the bimbo was planted, according to the villagers.

"This will be a gallery," Tshering says. "Eight years of darkness means so years of pushing back ward."

Rebuilding a school will require energy and part ice. A library with book and musical instruments is already set up.

" Right now. Because we don't have any music teachers. The guitar Just sits there," points out the principle of the school, Nima lama.
